Structural protection is an integral component of any fire strategy as it safeguards lives and restricts the financial impact of damage to buildings and their contents. The protection of multi-level buildings are especially important as once the structural integrity is compromised the whole buildings stability is at risk. There are 2 types of solutions for steel work one being Intumescent paint and the other a board encasement system from manufactures such as British Gypsum, Promat and Rockwool, some giving up to 240 minute fire protection. These board systems can be framed or frameless which minimises the space needed and can reduce the installation time and waste. These systems also offer acoustic and thermal solutions.
